What started out as a small group of problem solvers seeking to develop a technology solution has become a tight-knit group of people working on a common mission. We now have an executive team who drive our business development and growth along with a very talented team of technicians working in-house developing our product suite (you can find them on our website). But at our core, we are still that tight-knit group of problem solvers, who view eachother as family.

JAMIE WILSON
FOUNDER
The dreamer
Jamie had a highly successful accounting practice, specialising in clients with portfolios higher than $100m before he established Cryptoloc. But two devastating events changed the trajectory of Jamie’s career. In 2010, Jamie’s father died, and the family struggled to locate his crucial documents such as a will, superannuation and life insurance policies.
A year later, he witnessed a once in a 100-year flood in his home city of Brisbane with many businesses and residents losing vital and sensitive information. These two events, catapulted Jamie into the world of cybersecurity as he realised the importance of a secure central location to store critical documents. He wanted to develop a highly secure platform to store important documents, realising many solutions offering security on the market were still weak and vulnerable to attack. Jamie sought a solution, where the authenticity and integrity of documents would stand up in a court of law, with no chance of tampering.
He travelled the world, interviewing and learning from leading cybersecurity and cryptography experts. He then assembled a team of world-class developers and cybersecurity experts to develop Cryptoloc technology.
In 2017 Cryptoloc Technology was patented in the US, Australia and New Zealand. Your Digital File (YDF) was the first product developed and targeted at consumers to protect their valuable information. From there, Jamie says it was a natural progression to take the product to the corporate world.
Cryptoloc Vault was developed for enterprises to customise, while Secure2Client enables organisations to transfer confidential documents from existing systems securely. Crytpoloc’s latest offering QA can track the origin of products to ensure their quality and authenticity.
Cryptoloc has become trusted globally for providing cryptographic technology to ensure users have control over the information they store and transmit online. Jamie has also built his profile in cybersecurity. He regularly speaks on panels and at conferences worldwide about maintaining the privacy and authenticity of data.
CRAIG MILLS
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
The man that designs the dream
While impressed with the security technology under development at Cryptoloc, Craig was initially hesitant to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer. Cryptoloc’s Chief Information Security Officer Mark McPherson had worked with Craig before and was keen to get him on the team. However, with a background in systems integration, Craig thought someone with current lead development experience might be a better fit.
But Mark wanted someone who could bring the product to market and mature Cryptoloc to reach its potential and knew Craig was the person for the job. With a background in development, consulting, and network engineering, he understands how Cryptoloc can solve real-world problems.
Four years on Craig has built an enviable development team and revolutionised Cryptoloc’s infrastructure. Moving from physical servers in a data centre to AWS cloud computing was an integral part of reducing operational costs and improving scalability and flexibility.
What started as one product Your Digital File (YDF) has expanded to a suite of four to meet a range of needs. YDF, which is targeted at consumers, now has both desktop and mobile apps. Cryptoloc Vault was developed for enterprises to customise, while Secure2Client enables organisations to transfer confidential documents from existing systems securely.
Crytpoloc’s latest offering QA can track the origin of products to ensure their quality and authenticity. Craig’s particularly excited about QA and its ability to defend against counterfeit products, protecting both suppliers and consumers, particularly with advances in AI.
He says encryption while an effective solution has up until Cryptoloc was developed required a highly-technical skillset. He says it was always about providing the security of encryption but in a user-friendly format.
Craig continues to lead the Cryptoloc team to ensure the technology continues to meet users current and future needs in an increasingly hostile digital environment.
He believes it’s going to be increasingly important not only for individuals but also organisations to protect their data.
MELISSA CROSSMAN
CHIEF DATA SCIENTIST
Justifies the dream
Bachelor of Information Technology (Queensland University of Technology)
Graduate Certificate in Business (University of Southern Queensland)
Graduate Diploma Applied Data Science (University of Southern Queensland)
Melissa has worked as data science across a range of industries. In her words, she was responsible for establishing data systems and departments long before the career become popular. Data scientist is consistently ranked as top careers now and into the future worldwide.
Melissa has witnessed the evolution of big data and cloud technology. She has seen how analytics has evolved from a human being able to look at data to draw conclusions to massive data sets requiring computers to do so instead.
For Melissa, data science has become more than a buzz word with big data and analytics now driving business operations, logistical decisions, marketing strategies and even AI. She believes as more organisations leverage insight from big data analytics, protecting digital privacy is paramount.
Her mission is to ensure individuals and organisations, have the knowledge and tools to easily protect their online data and that of clients to avoid its misuse.
Melissa’s ability to understand big data and how organisations use data has been a pivotal asset to Cryptoloc team. She believes the technology developed solves the world’s data privacy problems through a simple solution which works.
As a data scientist Melissa also understands the importance of every business knowing their numbers. When it comes to Cryptoloc’s QA product, Melissa says companies will get essential numbers data. She says they’ll also be able to maintain security and ensure the authenticity of their products as well.
Crytpoloc’s QA product, which tracks the origin of products to ensure their authenticity, calls upon data science principles and algorithms to determine whether or not products are counterfeit.
Melissa grew up on an Australian farm, where production costs are high and margins low, so realises the importance of being able to track the authenticity of produce. She believes QA is about providing peace of mind to consumers while protecting the value and quality of a product.
DEBBIE JOYCE
GLOBAL SALES DIRECTOR
Sells the dream
Debbie Joyce understands the importance of ensuring the authenticity and quality of a product to protect both consumers and producers. She first started in sales in the food industry at age 21. Debbie climbed the ranks to become a Business Development Manager with her entrepreneurial instincts and clarity of vision, carrying multiple food companies through rapid and continuous growth.
In 2003, she moved into the dairy industry as a commodity trader and Business Development Manager. The dairy industry is one of the key sectors in Australian agriculture. The industry ranked third in farmgate value behind beef and wheat at A$4.3 billion for the 2017/18 financial year (The Australian Dairy Industry in Focus 2018 report).
During her time as a BDM in the dairy industry, Debbie has experienced first-hand the problems associated with counterfeit products. The Powdergate Scam affected the dairy industry worldwide in 2006 with fraudulent products, while the Melamine Chinese Milk scandal in 2008, had devastating effects. Milk and infant formula adulterated with melamine lead to 300,000 people becoming ill, including 54,000 babies hospitalised and six babies dying.
Debbie was particularly excited to join the team at Cryptoloc when she heard about their QA product, which can track the origin of products to ensure their quality and authenticity. She says its ability to defend against counterfeit products, protecting both suppliers and consumers is game-changing.
She believes high commodity prices will mean industries such as dairy are always at risk of tampering and QA is a safe-guard. Debbie had worked with Cryptoloc founder Jamie Wilson at various times throughout her career. Jamie knew Debbie was the person to lead Cryptoloc’s global sales and has always been impressed by her emotional intelligence, integrity and trust.
He says she was always the golden child of companies she worked, with her ability to get a deal across the line. For Debbie, her work has been about not only the growth of organisations for which she works but also providing quality solutions to clients.
Debbie is currently studying a Bachelor of Psychology. She believes applying principals of psychology in sales is helpful to understand her target market better.
